A Systematic Review of Measures of Child Neglect

Purpose: Child neglect is prevalent in children's social work and assessing complex because it multifaceted opaque. This systematic review identifies evaluates evidence of tools or measures to better assess child neglect. Methods: Informed by Cochrane methodology adapted the needs practice, a search was undertaken. Ten databases were searched, augmented grey literature, contact with relevant experts. Results: Only two measures, Neglect Index (CNI) modifications Maltreatment Classification System (MCS), met inclusion criteria. Neither tool completely comprehensive for Discussion: Our findings indicate (a) dearth suitable measure (b) need robust testing setting. The current based on measuring too limited effectively inform policy practice.
